Comfortable accommodation is arranged for you with Phil and his wife Helen at Hermiston Guesthouse where you’ll find the warmest of Cumbrian welcomes – and the benefit of your tutor on-site!
On the outskirts of the pretty village of Braithwaite, only two miles from the Cumbria market town of Keswick and Lake Derwentwater, Hermiston Guesthouse is ideally situated in the heart of the North Lakes. With stunning views of Skiddaw and Latrigg from their Lake District B&B, photographic opportunities in the Lake District are quite literally on the doorstep.
With such a wonderful Lake District location, a number of the bedrooms naturally feature great mountain views, whilst others have the quiet of their naturalistic garden, which is great for garden bird-lovers. Enjoy the comfort of en-suite bedrooms; each with tea and coffee-making facilities, flat screen TV, USB charging points, and free WiFi as standard. Unwind with a tea or coffee in the comfy guest lounge whilst you browse through one of Phil’s ever expanding collection of landscape photography books to get you into the landscape photography mood. Alternatively relax on the first floor terrace overlooking the garden.
Each morning take a leisurely breakfast, chatting and getting extra photography tips from Phil, while Helen makes one of her sumptuous home cooked Cumbrian breakfasts: All are made from scratch, and cooked to order with local farm shop meats and fresh eggs. Then, plan the day’s photography workshop locations together. When you return, there’ll be tea, coffee and cake to refresh and revitalise you and the opportunity to review the day’s landscape images with Phil after your evening meal at one of the three great pubs and a superb restaurant in the village – and all are within easy walking distance of Hermiston Guest House!
