Weddings FAQ

How long will Phil stay with us photographing our wedding day?

Times are flexible: Phil usually meets with the bride about an hour or so before the ceremony to take some beautiful images of the bride and her attendants getting ready - and some detail shots too – and stays until the first dance. There is no charge for any extra time spent taking pictures and Phil will often stay to capture special events such as fireworks.

Will Phil photograph more than one wedding a day?

No. Phil may shoot more than one wedding over a weekend, but not on your wedding day. He prides himself on his quality of service and the commitment he provides his clients – it is your special day and you deserve his full attention.

How many photos will Phil take?

The number of pictures taken depends on the opportunities during the day and the time available between the ceremony and the wedding reception. Phil may take as many as 500 pictures on your wedding day.

How many photos will we get to see – and do we have proof images to take away with us?

On most wedding days we produce between 180 and 200 great images. These are shown to you during a personal viewing as a multi- media presentation set to music. Phil will then show you each image at a time, helping you to choose your photos at your own pace. He doesn’t provide proofs, as Phil feels that most clients prefer his guidance to ensure that their album flows naturally and truly reflects the joy and romance of their wedding day. You will be able to go through the images as many times as you wish in order to select your favourites. Phil will then create an original and exciting album for you.

How many prints do most clients have in their finished album?

Most clients will buy an extra 35 to 80 prints for their album and one parent album.

How much extra can we expect to spend on extra prints for our album?

Every wedding is different and there is no obligation to buy extra prints. However, consider allowing an extra £900 for album prints and about £300 for a parent album containing 12 prints. Orders such as these taken at the viewing can have spread payments over four months on an interest free basis. (Phil Evans Photography’s business is based on trust and he reserves the right to withdraw this offer should his trust be broken).

The price for each extra image in the album seems expensive – especially as this is regardless of size. Why is this?

A great deal of time and attention to detail is paid to each image. Each image that you will see at your viewing, big or small and whether you choose it for your album or not, has been assessed for colour and tone. Most images are then ‘tidied’ to some extent even if only to eradicate the ‘fire exit sign’ in the background. The price is the same regardless of size, as it is the image itself for which you are paying and not simply the paper on which it is printed.

When will our album be ready?

We try to have your completed album ready within three weeks of your viewing. During that time Phil himself will design the layout of your album and make any adjustments required to your images. Your Jorgensen album will be ordered from Australia and delivered for Phil to complete. You will then be able to collect your album from us or we can arrange a courier delivery for a small additional fee.

How will our parents get to choose their photos/ parent albums?

We are always happy for your parents to attend their own viewing and Phil will help them make their selection then. This ensures that you have Phil’s full attention during your own viewing and that you don’t feel rushed into making your own choice of images. They also receive the same level of service too. Alternatively all the pictures from your viewing will be available on the internet where both parents and your other guests can choose and order online. Phil will then post their photos directly to them.

Do Phil and his assistant expect a meal at the wedding breakfast?

No. However, as they are with you for most of the day, a meal provided during the early part of your wedding breakfast would be greatly appreciated. They are sometimes invited to join the guests so that they are able to photograph during the speeches and cake cutting as they happen. Where this is not possible due to space limitations etc, Phil and his assistant may take a couple of hours away to have a meal.

How to book your photography

To book Phil for your wedding day, we ask for a non-refundable deposit of £300 which is deductible from your final balance. This can be paid by cash, cheque or credit/debit card. A booking form is also required which can be downloaded from our website. The remaining balance becomes due 30 days prior to your wedding.
