I’ve been working on a new portrait style which we are calling ‘Perle Noir’.

‘Perle Noir’ is a fusion of classic Black & White portraiture with Fine Art, which Phil then gives a modern twist. The results are elegant and contemporary portraits that focus on the face with no distractions.

Winter Wedding at Highcliffe Castle: It was a late start for this winter wedding at 2.30pm. We were hoping for a reasonable day to take advantage of the limited daylight. Fortunately the temperature was mild and we were able to do some out door work to make use of the beautiful surroundings. Part of my brief was to walk down to the beach with the couple for some pictures with the sunset.

The sun hadn’t come out all day so I wasn’t optimistic of a sunset but we walked to the beach anyway to take advantage of the change of location. Amazingly within a few minutes the sky began to glow and we were treated to our amazing sunset.

Naomi House Book Project 2012

Naomi House Book Project 2012.

I would like to thank all who took part in our latest Book Project to help raise much needed funds for Naomi House and Jacks place. Please click on the video to see the pages in this years book.

We are in the process of launching this years Book Project for 2013 and would love for new and past participants to make this years book a huge success as with the previous three books.

The money raised from this project will make a great difference to Naomi House, which is a purpose-built children’s hospice that provides a homely environment for children and young people with life-limiting conditions which mean that they will not live to become adults.

Situated just north of Winchester in Hampshire, we offer one-to-one palliative care that includes respite, terminal and bereavement care and support to children and their families in central southern England. We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. It costs around £3.0 million every year to keep this service running.

Naomi House has built a new unit called jacksplace@naomihouse, a hospice for teenagers and young people. An appeal for £12million to build, equip and run jacksplace was launched in September 2007. A legacy from Jack Witham, a local businessman, of £6million was a huge boost to the appeal. Staff and supporters of Naomi House are worked hard to raise the remaining £6million that was needed to complete the project. jacksplace, which will be the fourth young person’s hospice in the country, opened in 2010. The costs of running the charity’s two hospices will increase to £5 million each year. With just 10% of their income coming from Government, Naomi House relies on the generosity of people in the community to continue its work.

NEW Photography Workshops

I am starting to offer workshops for people who would like to learn the basics of photography. It is aimed at people who have an SLR camera (but will benefit those that have a compact camera) who would like to take better photos of any subject and get more enjoyment from their camera.

The workshops cost only £35 for small groups of no more than 8 people, so why not consider bringing along a friend too.

Naomi House Book Project 2012

We have kicked off our Book Project 2012 with a great location session of four siblings. We met up at Anton Lakes and created some lovely images of the children, they were a delight to work with. If you know anyone who may like to take part in this years project please get in touch as spaces are limited.

Portraits at Beechurst

I did a lovely location shoot the other day amongst the daffodils at Beechurst Park. It was a beautiful day and we all had great fun. This is a lovely park and ideal for portraits as it is little used by the general public except for the odd dog walker.

Our New Puppy

This is our new puppy, he is a brown Lab. We collected him today and he is 9 weeks old. And we have named him Toby.

We lost our previous dog, Barney, last year. He was a West Highland Terrier and died at a good age of 15 years. We decided that it was time to have a new addition to our family. He has been a little mischief today exploring his new home and he has been a bit of a time waster for us all.

Most years I visit the photographers trade show which is held at the NEC in Birmingham. This year one of my trade suppliers asked if they could use one of my images to take centre stage on their trade stand and they printed it as a 2 metre high acrylic print. The quality was superb and it looked fabulous. I was very pleased to have it on show. It was one of the photographs I took while on holiday in New York of the Flatiron Building.
